No. You may attend the class lecture and discussion sessions without access to IBM i. If you wish to do the lab exercises, you will need access to an IBM i server, we can recommend a free service that will give you an account.

How do I attend an online class?

On a Mac or PC:

  • Go to www.joingotomeeting.com .
  • Type or paste in the 9-digit Meeting ID provided by your instructor.
  • Click "Yes" or "Always" (or "Trust" on a Mac) if prompted to accept the download.
  • If requested, enter the meeting password provided by your instructor. You will be entered into the class and the Attendee Control Panel and GoToMeeting Viewer window will appear.
  • You can also initiate the process of attending a class by clicking the link sent to you in an email invitation, or by clicking the "Join a Meeting" button on the GoToMeeting.com home page.

On an iPad:

  • If you know the 9-digit meeting ID, you can join the class by simply opening the GoToMeeting app and entering your name and the meeting ID. Attendees with the GoToMeeting app can also join a class by tapping the invitation link through an email or Web page, or by entering the meeting ID on the joingotomeeting.com Web site.

Do I need a GoToMeeting account to attend a class?

No. You do not need a GoToMeeting account to attend an online class. You participate as a guest of the instructor, and there is no obligation to buy or sign up for a free trial.

How do the online classes work with firewalls?

Our solutions use HTTP outbound connections to transparently enable screen-sharing sessions even with corporate firewalls in place. In most cases, you can connect to Citrix Online's servers without re-configuring firewall settings.

In the rare case that a personal firewall (ZoneAlarm®, Norton Personal Firewall™, etc.) is blocking GoToMeeting, you just need to select your firewall's option to allow GoToMeeting to access the Internet.

  • Select the check box to Remember the answer each time I use this program.
  • Click Yes to enable GoToMeeting to access the Internet.

If you do not have a personal firewall but are in a "Business Environment," you may have a hardware firewall. Please provide the document found at www.citrixonline.com/iprange to your IT department so that they may allow GoToMeeting to connect.

If a connection still cannot be established, please call our Customer Care team toll-free at 1-800-263-6317 or direct dial +1-805-617-7000. What microphone/speaker configuration do you recommend for best audio quality using VoIP?

For optimum audio quality, we recommend a USB headset connected to your computer, or USB headphones and standalone microphone connected to your computer. Analog versions are okay, but not ideal. We have not had good results using the microphone and speakers built in to your laptop or USB Webcam.

Can I test the quality of my microphone/speaker setup before my class?

Yes. Just right-click the GoToMeeting system tray icon and select Preferences, then select Audio and choose the devices you want to test from the drop-down menus.

Where can I go for help with audio problems?

If you cannot hear, here are some quick tips:

  • Double-check that you have the correct audio option selected – for instance, you cannot use mic and speakers when you have "Use Telephone" selected.
  • Are the correct sound devices selected on your GoToMeeting Preferences (or Audio, on a Mac) menu?
  • If using a microphone with a mute/unmute button, is your microphone muted?
  • Is your speaker volume set too low?
  • Is your Internet connection too slow? (We recommend a broadband Internet connection for VoIP transmissions.)

If you are still having audio problems, please contact Global Customer Support at 1 800 263 6317 or direct dial +1 805 617 7000. If you are calling from outside the United States, click Contact Support on the Global Customer Support page for our international numbers.

Can I view presentations in full-screen format?

Yes. On the top of the Attendee Control Panel, click the View Menu button and select the Full Screen option. Or, on the Attendee Grab Tab on the side of the Control Panel you can click the View button to toggle between Full Screen and Window viewing.

Are the class sessions secure?

Yes, online classes are completely private and secure. They feature end-to-end Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and 128-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) encryption. No unencrypted information is ever stored on our system.

Can my computer receive a virus from downloading the software or attending a session?

No, you cannot catch or be exposed to viruses from downloading our software. We continuously monitor our development environment for viruses and malware, and all of our downloadable software is digitally signed to prevent tampering by third parties. The warning message customers might see when they install the software is a default message displayed by their browser whenever they download executable files.

Do I need to set my browser to accept cookies in order to attend a class?

You can browse our Web site without having cookies enabled. However, if you need to log in to an existing account, you will need to adjust your browser's privacy settings to accept cookies. We primarily use cookies to provide you with secure access to your account.
